Event OS: Documentary Event

The Documentary Event is the most ambitious format in the ecosystem. It is not an event that gets filmed. It is an event designed specifically as a narrative — where every element serves the story that FRAMESx will tell afterward. The product is not the experience. The product is the film.

What This Format Is

The Documentary Event is the most ambitious format in the ecosystem. It is not an event that gets filmed. It is an event designed specifically as a narrative — where every element serves the story that FRAMESx will tell afterward. The product is not the experience. The product is the film.

Amplification Eligibility

Status: High Potential

The story must be genuinely worth telling. A documentary event with no narrative arc, no meaningful moment, and no character worth following will not produce compelling content regardless of production quality. The story comes first.

Who This Format Is Built For

All Archetypes — Milestone Moments

The Documentary Event is appropriate for any member who is at a genuine inflection point — a launch, a return, a transformation, a milestone. The documentary format makes sense when there is a real story to tell, not just an event to film.

Example: A founder who built a company to $5M, sold it, took 18 months off, and is now re-entering — that is a documentary event. The return. The re-entry. The story is real and the audience will feel it.

DJs and Creative Founders

A record release, a first major performance, a creative homecoming — these are natural documentary event moments for DJs and creative founders. The format captures the human behind the work, not just the work.

Example: A DJ releases his first original EP after years of performing other people's music. The documentary event is the release party — but the film is the story of the creative process, the doubt, the breakthrough. The event is the final scene. The film tells the whole arc.

Coaches and Thought Leaders

A coach who developed a methodology through a personal experience — a health crisis, a business failure, a transformation — has a documentary story. The event is a gathering of the people who went through that journey with them, or who benefit from what emerged from it.

Example: A performance coach who recovered from a serious injury and built her entire methodology from the experience hosts a documentary event: a conversation with three clients who went through similar journeys, captured in a setting that reflects the theme of rebuilding. The film is not about the event — it is about the story the event crystallizes.

Run of Show

Phase

Duration

What Happens

Pre-Event Interviews

Day before or morning of

FRAMESx conducts brief interviews with key participants — host, 1–2 guests, relevant collaborators. These become the narrative spine of the film.

Live Experience

Variable

The event itself runs according to its own format — dinner, performance, conversation, or a combination. FRAMESx is embedded, not directing.

Key Moments

Identified in pre-production

The story identifies 3–5 moments that must be captured. These are planned in advance and protected in the run of show.

Post-Event Reflections

Immediately after or next day

Brief post-event interviews capturing immediate reflections. These are often the most emotionally honest moments in the film.

Environment

  • The environment must serve the story — it is not chosen for convenience
  • FRAMESx walks the space before any guests arrive to plan shooting positions and narrative capture strategy
  • Lighting is designed for the film, not just the event
  • Sound capture requires a separate audio strategy — lapel mics on key participants
